In our day to day life this two word Baseband and broadband are very popular among the people.We are using this two technology to transmit data through the medium. In the networking there is only two communication signal Analog signal and Digital signal. At the transmission time through the medium what types of signal are used on the basis of that this two terms has been created.

Overview of Baseband & Broadband

Baseband

In the Baseband technology data are transfer with digital signal through the medium. In the Lan Network system this technique are used. In simple word baseband is a communication technique in which digital signal are placed on the transmission line. In this technique there is no concept of modulation.

Note :  Modulation means it change the digital signal to analog signal.

Characteristic : 

• Digital signal are directly transfer into the transmission medium.
• There is no chance of use microwave signal, because it use analog signal to transmit data. 
• It transmit one signal at a time.
• Digital signal are also called "Baseband Signal".
• Its only use cabal to transmit data.
• For using only cabal it is only used in the LAN network( one Types of Network).
• Token ring and Ethernet are used Baseband technique.

Broadband

Broadband is a technique to transmit large amount of data such as audio, video, images, pdf over long distance. In this signal data can be transfer by using of cabal as well as microwave signal. In this system modulation and demodulation will be there.

Characteristic :

• Digital and analog both signal are transfer into the transmission medium.
• Here use Analog and Digital signal to transmit data.
• It transmit many signal at a time in different frequency. 
• It is used in the MAN, and WAN network.
• It's include Microwave, Satellite, co-axial, fiber optic.
